Voice Lessons
Voice Age Requirement
Singing does not depend on fine motor skills or coordination like other instruments, so the best time to enroll in voice lessons is based on each students’ ability and maturity. The human voice continues to mature throughout life, so students of any age can benefit from singing lessons. A student may be ready for voice lessons when they:
-
Display an interest in music and a desire to sing
-
Have the ability to concentrate for 30 minutes
-
Have ability to follow directions from an instructor

Realistic Expectations for Voice Lessons
Musical training is a long-term process and it can take years to become highly skilled. Music lessons should be a steady progression through the beginning, intermediate, and advanced phases. With steady practice and commitment, all students will gain singing confidence in as little as 6 months. Advanced vocal proficiency varies greatly with each student, especially with growing bodies and changing voices.
