RECITAL INFORMATION

WHAT IS A RECITAL?

A recital gives students an opportunity to showcase what they have learned during music lessons and share their passion with others.  Recitals can help students build confidence performing and give them a sense of accomplishment. The applause, smiles, and praise from family and friends can help students stay motivated.

Our recitals are held on the cabaret stage in the large theater building at the BSA. Recital participation is HIGHLY encouraged as students really look forward to this event and create priceless memories!

DRESS REHERSALS

The goal of a dress rehearsal is to simulate the live performance as closely as possible.  This helps identify any adjustments that might be needed.  Performers get comfortable with the stage and gain confidence.  Practicing in a realistic setting helps ease nerves and reduce anxiety for the final performance.  Overall, dress rehearsals help ensure that the students are well-prepared, creating a more enjoyable experience.

Our dress rehearsals take place during regular lesson times the week of the recital, in the lobby of the large theater building.  On the day of the dress rehearsal, please remain in your vehicle and avoid entering the venue early. This will ensure privacy and minimize distractions during this critical rehearsal time.

RECITAL INFORMATION

You are encouraged to invite family and friends to support our performers. Recitals are typically divided into two parts as a courtesy to families; allowing some students to leave early while others arrive later. This arrangement enables families to attend only half of the recital (50-60 minutes) rather than the full duration (2-3 hours.) You are welcome to attend the entire event but are only required to attend your portion.

Out of respect for all performers, students and audience members should remain for the entirety of their assigned portion of the recital.

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS

Students are encouraged to dress in fancy attire. Semi-formal or formal clothing is appropriate.  Please no jeans or sweats. Students should arrive 10-15 minutes early for bathroom breaks, finding their seats, preparing their music, and taking a photo on stage. If you anticipate that they may get hungry, please ensure they have a small snack before the recital.

RECEPTION

Following the recital, we will gather for a group picture on stage, followed by a celebratory reception to honor the students with refreshments and snacks. This gathering is an important part of the event, providing students a chance to reflect on their accomplishments alongside friends and family.

Each performer is expected to bring a snack to share.  Ideally something savory, such as veggie or fruit trays, crackers and cheese, pickle roll-ups, mini sandwiches, chips and dip, chex mix, or similar snacks and appetizers. The instructor covers all other recital expenses and will provide drinks, serving plates, napkins, cups, and other essentials.  Your contribution helps make this celebration successful, and your support in creating a memorable experience for our students is appreciated. Students always look forward to this special celebration!!
